Debating for America's Youth also has a podcast hosted on Anchor.fm as well as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other applications. We continue to see success through the members of the community that are helped by our podcast's message.
Nathan Fair and CJ Fair both were assistant teachers in the the Apex Friendship High School Debate class (Forensics). In the class, we introduced Debate events and helped coach the members of the class in their debates. We also modeled the debate events before the class so that they understood what to do.
Alston Ridge Elementary School AIG class was the first official class that Debating for America's Youth has taught. Over the course of a week, Debating for America's Youth taught two classes. One of the classes was a Public Speaking class that helped students with impromptu speaking. The other class focused on one on one or Lincoln Douglas Debate. The students gained confident about Speaking and Debating over the course of the class.
Debating for America's Youth went to Scotts Ridge Elementary School's AIG program on multiple occasions to teach 3rd and 5th graders about Public Forum or two on two debate. The students learned the basics about debating, saw a demo debate, and finally they got to have a debate of their own. This class helped the students with their understanding and interest in Speech and Debate.
DAY also spoke at the Cary Rotary Club at one of their monthly meetings. We explained what Speech and Debate was, what the need was, and finally what our nonprofit did. It is very important that the members of the community learn about the need for public speaking and debating information in the community. We love every opportunity to share our passion and mission.
When Debating for America's Youth was first getting set up, we decided to help local middle school students learn about Public Speaking. We held a free public speaking class and taught about how to speaking extemporaneously and what skills are important for the ability. The students heard and tried to put the skills in practice.
Members of Debating for America's also were a part of the Apex Friendship High School Speech and Debate team. Our founder was the Vice President of the club and for two years the Congressional Debate chair. He led the event and eventually the whole club in the activity. Another member of the nonprofit served as the Big Questions Debate chair and a competitor in Lincoln Douglas debate and Informative Speaking. There our nonprofit was founded after discovering the need of Speech and Debate and the lack of information.
We are always looking for another opportunity to help people or interview successful members of High School clubs. Please reach out to us so we can help you the best we can! We are now located out of Colorado so keep that in mind for classes.
